Migrating from HubSpot to GoHighLevel: 7 steps without losing data

Migrating from HubSpot to GoHighLevel: 7 steps without losing data

If you're paying HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional (€890/mo) just because you don't know how to leave, this is your exit plan. We've run dozens of HubSpot → GoHighLevel migrations in Croatia and the EU — below is the shortest checklist that actually works.

Step 1 — Data to export

From HubSpot export CSVs of: - Contacts (all custom properties) - Companies - Deals + Pipelines - Notes / activities (last 12 months min) - Email templates - Landing page HTML

Step 2 — Clean before you migrate

Don't migrate junk. Delete: - Contacts with no interaction in 24+ months - Bounced emails - Duplicates (HubSpot has many)

Realistic saving: 30–60% of the base goes away, GHL starts clean.

Step 3 — Create GHL sub-account with the right custom fields

HubSpot custom properties must be re-created manually as GHL custom fields. Anything unmapped is lost at import.

    Step 4 — Contact import

    • CSV import (up to 100k per batch)
    • Verify mapping for tags and custom fields
    • Tag source as "HubSpot Migration YYYY-MM"

Step 5 — Translate automations, don't copy them

HubSpot workflow ≠ GHL workflow. Similar logic, but: - HubSpot delay → GHL "Wait" - HubSpot if/then → GHL "If/Else" - HubSpot goals → GHL "Goal event"

Use the migration to clean workflows — 40% of old HubSpot automations aren't needed anymore.

Step 6 — Landing pages and forms

Don't move HTML 1:1. Rebuild the 3–5 most important pages in the GHL builder. For blog stay on WordPress + form to GHL webhook.

    Step 7 — 14-day parallel run

    • New leads → GHL
    • Existing contacts → still in HubSpot until final sequence completes
    • After 14 days, pause HubSpot workflows and cancel plan

    Realistic timeline

    | Base size | Time | |-----------|------| | < 5k contacts | 3–5 days | | 5–25k | 7–14 days | | 25k+ | 3–4 weeks |

    First-year savings

    HubSpot Marketing Pro (€890) + Sales Pro (€441) = €1331/mo. GHL Agency Unlimited €456/mo for unlimited sub-accounts. Saving: ~€10,500/year.
